Set amidst lakes Edward and George, and covering the length of the Kazinga Channel that connects the two, Queen Elizabeth National Park is superb safari territory, broadly covering Ishasha in the south, the “Central Sector”, and Northern Queen Elizabeth, which is currently being rehabilitated.

The picturesque terrain boasts open savannahs, papyrus swamps, forested gorges, grassy plains, tropical forests, volcanic craters and crater lakes (at least ten within the park), and of course, a prolific amount of wildlife. Queen Elizabeth National Park offers such rich variety of habitats, panoramic scenery, and diversity of game and birdlife that it is sure to delight.

The park has the highest concentration of elephants found in Uganda, and is said to have the highest density of hippos found anywhere in the world. Its lion population are also unique – in their very special habit of climbing giant fig trees. And if that’s not enough, all of this is set against the majestic backdrop of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. In fact, with such a mosaic of habitats, it is little wonder that Queen boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world.
